With increasing opposition to his authoritarian regime, French President Emmanuel Macron is now moving to enact legislation intended to ban Twitter in France. Under the pretext of protecting minors, the new bill effectively seeks to silence the main social media platform that has served as an uncensored source for reporting on the protests against the Macron regime largely ignored by mainstream media outlets.

The bill aimed at “securing” the internet, which will be presented to the Council of Ministers, would allow for L’Arcom, the French Public Authority for Regulating Audiovisual and Digital Communication to block access to any site distributing pornographic content without verifying the age of Internet users. Under the proposed legislation, this could be done without approval from the courts. In practice, such a block would be put in place by internet service providers, which would then make it impossible to connect to the targeted sites from French territory. Search engine delisting could also be applied.

In response to the proposed measure, Florian Philippot, President of the Les Patriotes Party, tweeted, “Amazing ! The French government has found a pure pretext (pornography) to announce that it could ban Twitter in France! Ban Twitter! The real reason: this network has become free again with Musk and the Macronists hate freedom!”

Imposing an age verification procedure would allow the government to collect data on users that can later be used to harass or intimidate them. Under the pretext of protecting the most vulnerable, the French government are trying to violate fundamental individual rights. Macron and his globalist allies are advocating for a world where every word, every image, every thought is filtered and approved by the government.

The clearly hypocritical nature of the proposed legislation has not gone unnoticed in France. Earlier in the week, Macron condemned vandalism on a painting depicting a male child performing fellatio on an adult male, writing, “On this May 8, when we celebrate the victory of freedom, I condemn the act of vandalism committed yesterday at the Palais de Tokyo. To attack a work is to attack our values. In France, art is always free, and respect for cultural creation is guaranteed.”
