The Iranian resistance, otherwise known as the PMOI/MEK, issued information regarding the continuing execution of political prisoners in Iran.
|Last week, the regime continued its sharp escalation of executions. 117 people have been executed in the month of November in Iran, including 37 in just 9 days.
17-year-old Hamidreza Azari, was hanged in Sabzevar Prison on November 24, 2023. The United Nations said it deplored the execution of the 17-year-old minor and urged Tehran to immediately stop applying the death penalty.
The Iranian regime’s ruthless crackdown on dissent continues. Kamran Rezaei, arrested during the November 2019 Shiraz uprising, was executed on November 30. He, Milad Zohrevand, Ali Saber, Ayoub Karimi, and Hani Alboushahbazi were hanged along with 8 others. Ali Saber was executed for supporting the main opposition Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK).
While the regime continues to fan the flames of war in the Middle East, it has resorted to increasing its repressive measures at home. There has been a significant uptick in executions since the beginning of the war in Gaza. Since October 7, five dissidents have been hanged.
Silence vis-a-vis this murderous regime will only embolden it to continue its inhuman practices.
In his latest commentary for Behind the Iran Headlines series, the Deputy Director of the US Representative Office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Alireza Jafarzadeh, says: “Western capitals must fulfill their absolute responsibility by holding the regime accountable for its murder, terror, and mayhem.” Watch the full analysis here.
This week’s featured article says: “The mullahs’ international gangsterism can no longer be tolerated. It is time for the EU and the UK to follow America’s example and blacklist the IRGC and it is time for Western nations to close Iran’s embassies and expel their diplomatic staff.”
