KYIV – Zelenskiy’s ‘Peace Formula’ implementation took center stage at the Jeddah summit in Saudi Arabia this week. With the participation of 40 countries, including the United States, the summit aimed to address the ongoing situation. While experts in Washington didn’t anticipate an immediate end to the Russian-Ukrainian war, they viewed this meeting as an opportunity for nations to directly understand Ukraine’s perspective.

The focus of the discussions in Saudi Arabia revolved around potential resolution to the conflict. Ukrainian leaders actively seek a diplomatic solution to the war. However, the outcome of the talks, beyond the establishment of working groups, yielded few concrete advancements. The Kyiv government remains committed to promoting their peace plan, even among nations that may be less inclined to engage.

Reportedly, the most notable result of the Jeddah meetings is the decision to create working groups based on various aspects of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s 10-point “peace formula.” These groups will address matters such as the food supply and future security in Ukraine.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kuleba said:

The outcome of the Jeddah Peace Summit is to meet again in some time in the future and suggest a Peace Plan for Ukraine-Russia war that is expected to finish the war. One of the suggestion was a direct meeting of President Zelenskiy and President Putin.

Later after the Jeddah Meeting Minister Kuleba declared that President Zelenskiy will not negotiate with President Putin sitting at one table.

“We will never be able to see Putin and Zelenskiy at the same table,” – Kuleba

In an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Kuleba stated that we can engage in negotiations with Russia after the withdrawal of their troops from our lands, but not with Putin.

At the same time, Kuleba noted that we don’t trust the Russians at their word; no sensible person would. Before the withdrawal, we would like to be sure that it’s serious and not deception, to prevent a return and another attack later on.

It’s worth to mention that the position of Kuleba is aligned with the President of Ukraine Zelenskiy.

Don’t call it a peace summit. It is instead a plan to try to force Russia into unacceptable terms that give Ukraine gains and still threaten Russia. Those aren’t terms, they are fantasies. Russia has offered peace before on several occasions, but Russia’s terms were rejected. Now Russia will earn peace through victory.
