Estonian President Alar Karis said in Vilnius recently hybrid attacks are still a problem from Belarus and must be addressed with additional measures.

“Hybrid attacks on the Belarus-EU border, where vulnerable third-country nationals are used to organize illegal border crossings, must be condemned with one voice,” Karis said last week at a joint news conference with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, reported The Baltic Times.

“Belarus must put an end to such activities, because such behavior by Belarus threatens the security of the region. This is a very serious violation of human rights and we must be ready to impose new restrictions on Belarus,” he said.

Belarus has increased illegal migration from the Middle East via the Baltics in order to retaliate against sanctions leveled by the EU.
