 Several Hundred Saakashvili Supporters Demonstrate In Kyiv

Hundreds of supporters of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili gathered near the Ukrainian parliament today, protesting corruption and demanding impeachment of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

“Several hundred people gathered on Mikhailov Square on November 12, some of them holding Ukrainian flags and red-and-black and party banners. They are planning to march toward a tent camp that was set up by protesters outside the parliament building…Protesters set up tents outside the Verkhovna Rada building on October 17, calling for the cancellation of parliamentarian immunity, the creation of an anticorruption court, amendments to election laws, and legislation on impeachment of the president,” wrote RFERL.

Ukrainian security services said the would “prevent provocations and violations of the law and order.”

Saakashvili, Says Ukraine Will Break Up If Corruption Is Not Reversed

Poroshenko has come under siege in recent months for his inability or lack of desire to tackle systemic corruption within the Ukrainian government. Saakashvili has stated that Ukraine will break apart if corruption is not rooted out.
