Poland To Cut A Canal To The Baltic Sea To Prove Russia Has No Power Over Warsaw

Poland’s state-run gas company says it has sealed a 20-year deal to buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States in a bid to reduce its dependence on Russian supplies.

Morawiecki said the contract will help reduce Poland’s reliance on Russia’s state-owned energy giant Gazprom, reported RFERL.

“Today we can fulfill our efforts to improve the sovereignty, security, and competitiveness of our gas sector,” Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told reporters in Warsaw on October 17.

The deal is in stark comparison to Germany which is investing in, and building, the Nord Stream II pipeline under the Baltic Sea which will significantly increase Berlin”s reliance on the Russian Federation for it energy supplies.
