In what will represent another significant escalation of the war in Ukraine, Csaba Dömötör, Secretary of State in the Hungarian Prime Minister’s office, criticized the latest resolution by the European Parliament that calls for supplying ever more lethal weapons to the Zelensky regime.

Dömötör called the resolution “everything but a call for peace, more like a big step towards the escalation of the war. As usual, leftist parties have voted for the resolution.”

“The 7th point of the resolution calls for deliveries of more armored vehicles and ammunition, to be followed by long-distance missile systems and fighter jets to the war-torn country,” the Hungarian Secretary of State pointed to as evidence for his assertion.

He also made it clear that the measures would damage Hungary’s national economic interests, especially in the energy sector where Hungary cooperates with Russia in the area of nuclear power. “Point 26 of the resolution calls for the full embargo of Russian fossil fuels and uranium,” Dömötör maintained, “which would mean banning the imports of gas and nuclear fuel rods. Rising energy prices have already fueled record inflation, a full embargo will guarantee further price increases.”
