Russia’s Kommersant daily reported today that its sources have informed that Russian President Vladimir Putin may soon visit the newly-elected President of France, Emmanuel Macron. The occasion would be to visit an exhibition in Paris dedicated to Russian Czar Peter the Great, to be held in on May 29.

“We will make an announcement in due time,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters when asked to comment on this report, stated Russian state news agency TASS.

Since the French terror attacks, Russia has made multiple efforts to build a relationship with France and to join forces in fighting terrorism in the Middle East, which has impacted both countries. Former French President Hollande had frequent conversations with the Russian leader regarding the issue.

Defeated presidential candidate Marine Le Pen also had a connection with the Kremlin and enjoyed Moscow’s support.
