Canada Will Ship Arms In Ukraine

The Defense Ministry of Ukraine and Canada plan to sign a cooperation agreement next week. The agreement aims to give the Ukrainian side access to the Canadian arms market, Ukrinform news agency reported citing representatives of the defense departments of the two countries.

Earlier, Ukraine’s ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko said that Canada is not yet ready to provide Ukraine with lethal weapons, but is considering the possibility of including Kiev in the list of Automatic Firearms Country Control List, which allows export of Canadian weapons to the country.

According to Ukrinform, Stepan Poltorak, the head of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine plans to sign the document during his visit in Canada. At the same time, the publication notes that “work on the final version of the agreement is still ongoing, but will be completed on time.”

As reported, the Ukraine-Canada defense cooperation agreement is the interagency treaty and was confirmed to an Ukrinform correspondent in the defense ministries of both countries.
