Video: ‘This Is A Dictatorship’ – Protests Mark Moldova’s Independence Day

After decades of theft and corruption, a sordid legacy from the Soviet Union, Moldovans took to the the streets to demonstrate on Independence Day, August 27th. Over the last decade the citizens of the tiny, former Soviet republic have seen 20% of their banking system disappear, as well as the discovery of a ‘Russian laundromat’ laundering tens of billions of dollars. Recently a Moldovan court annulled the mayoral election of the capital Chisinau, creating more civil unrest.
