Thousands of Russian believers formed a line 1.5km long in Moscow to see the relics of one of the Russian Orthodox Church’s most-beloved saints, St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker, the original Santa Claus. The remains were brought from Italy to Moscow for the first time in 930 years. They had previously been housed in the Italian city of Bari.
The relics will be held and shown in Moscow until July 12th and then St. Petersburg until July 28th
As of filing the article today in Moscow, The Moscow Times said thousands were still waiting patiently in a line outside the church to visit the Saint’s remains and pray.
His reputation evolved among the faithful, as was common for early Christian saints,[7] and his legendary habit of secret gift-giving gave rise to the traditional model of Santa Claus through Sinterklaas, reports Wikipedia.
