On Dec 7th hundreds of people in Minsk, Belarus demonstrated against a close unification with Russia, being actively pushed by the Kremlin, in a bid many believe to provide justification for Vladimir Putin to extend his term as president.
Many red-striped white banners, the banned flag of the first independent Belarusian state, as well as European Union flags could be seen, as protesters marched through the city in what was one of the biggest unsanctioned rallies there in recent times according to some estimates, reported RFERL.
