The Moscow Times reported today on the social media firestorm that a picture of U.S. President Trump shanking Russian President Putin’s hand, by AFP, is creating in the Russian Federation. The image shows Trump on a platform bending over to greet the Russian president from above, making Vladimir Putin look small.
The Kremlin is known to be sensitive to Putin’s size and avoids unflattering photos.
“Heads will roll at [Russia’s state-run news agency] TASS,” journalist Pavel Pryanikov tweeted Sunday after the agency reportedly used the photograph in its coverage of the handshake, wrote The Moscow Times.
