Venezuela To Import 60,000 Tons Of Russian Wheat Per Month

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Thursday, after a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, that the socialist, South American nation will begin to import 60,000 tons of wheat starting immediately. The socialist system is collapsing in Venezuela under a mountain of corruption which has led to social unrest. The government is desperate to feed its people or be forced out of power.

“We are ready, all phytosanitary and trade agreements have been already signed and very soon Russia will supply to Venezuela 60,000 tonnes of wheat per month on a stable basis starting from this year,” Maduro said, according to the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), reported Russian state news agency TASS.

Maduro also reported that production of Russian trucks will also begin soon in-country, mentioning 5 different enterprises.

The two leaders also discussed recent unrest in Venezuela and future economic and strategic partnerships.
