Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić will meet on June 15 in Brussels to proceed with the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue. Peter Sano, the EU spokesperson, confirmed the date during a press conference on Wednesday.

This will be the first meeting between Kurti and Vučić in the context of the European Union mediated dialogue on the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. It will be mediated by the top EU diplomat Josep Borrell and the EU Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Prishtina dialogue Miroslav Lajčák.

Both country leaders have recently reiterated their opposing stances on the creation of the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities (ASM).

Vučić told media last week that Belgrade’s reaction to any failure to respect agreements signed in Brussels will be “stern and strong.”

The statement came as a response to recent comments by Kurti who stated that there cannot be any “one-ethnic” association of municipalities in Kosovo.

Kurti has mentioned that this meeting will be used to discuss the future of the dialogue, suggesting that it won’t be a continuation of previous talks on the normalization of relations between the two countries.

Ahead of their trip to Brussels, both leaders met with Lajčák and the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew A. Palmer to discuss how the dialogue will proceed.
