The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense today declared it has shot down its 100th Russian aircraft. There is no way this information can be confirmed.
It is apparent the Russian Air Force has not been as effective against the Ukrainian military as thought it would be prior to the invasion.
There are multiple possible reasons for this including lack of training, resources, and tactical education, and/or reserving forces for any possible future NATO conflict over the Kremlin’s actions in the former Soviet republic of Ukraine.
