Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, a high-profile Russian event that highlights the country in the global business community, asked American entrepreneurs to help restore ties between Moscow and the United States business community, and government officials.
“Help us restore normal political dialogue,” Putin said. “I’m asking the American side on behalf of Russia to help the newly elected President Donald Trump and the administration of the United States.”
“[I am] certain, that the normalization of bilateral relations is the interests of both countries, and we will continue the dialogue with the President of the United States of America Donald Trump and the new administration,” Putin said, reported The Moscow Times.
Russia has been on a campaign to restore relations with the U.S. since the election of Donald Trump to the U.S. presidency. Most likely, the goal of the Kremlin is to get sanctions removed that were imposed on Russia after their actions in Crimea and in East Ukraine.
