Hundreds Protest In Kazan Against Bank Crisis
Temple of All Religions, Kazan

On March 4 more than 300 people gathered outside the central government in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. Protesters marched to deliver a letter to the local leadership.

The Bank of Russia on March 3 abolished the licenses of three banks — Tatfondbank, Intechbank, and Ankor Bank. Bank clients lost their money. They demanded that the republic’s prime minister step down and the government find money to repay all the client’s 40 billion rubles ($681 million).

The Prime minister accepted the letter and promised the protesters to pass the proposals to the President, Rustam Minnikhanov, and respond on March 6.
