A Deal Is In The Works Between Moscow And Washington

A deal is in the work between Moscow and Washington; the evidence is just too substantial to be otherwise.

We have just seen a prisoner swap between Ukraine and Russia, solving the thorny issue of the Kerch Strait incident where a few dozen Ukrainian sailors were captured.

This comes on the heels of the Trump administration delaying $250mm in military aid to Ukraine, possibly canceling the measure due to time deadlines for disbursement.

The Kremlin is giddy about the attitude of the new Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who campaigned on solving the thorny issue of the simmering war in Donbass where over 13,000 people have died in a few years.

“It has become possible in the course of implementation of the personal agreements between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents. Unlike his predecessors, V. Zelensky’s new administration showed a sensible approach and readiness for compromises,” declared the Russian Foreign Ministry today, reported Russian state news agency TASS.

We view the coordinated mutual release of detainees held in Russia and Ukraine as a positive signal which should be followed by other important steps so as to break the current impasse in the Russian-Ukrainian relations and in the implementation of the Minsk agreements,” the ministry stressed.

“We are hoping that this step will create a positive background for substantive work at the Contact Group and the Normandy [Four] group,” the ministry added in the statement, confirming that Moscow was ready to keep facilitating “any constructive actions aimed at reaching an accord between the parties to the intra-Ukrainian conflict.”.

I have a theory.

Washington long ago made the determination that Iran and China were the biggest threats to American and Western security. Hence, follow-on decisions have been made in that vein.

It seems blatantly clear that Russia has been incentivized to solve the Ukrainian problem, and the Trump administration is going along with it, and has pushed the Ukrainian government to be more flexible.

I postulate that Washington is getting assurances from Moscow to help with the Iranian nuclear quandary, and possibly North Korea.

Geopolitics is a grand game, and Trump and Putin are master players.

Perhaps their deal will lead to greater peace in the world for all of us.

Russia hasn’t been a threat to the US since the end of the cold war. There are many points of common interest with Russia. Islamic terrorism for example.
In my opinion the deep state and the military industrial complex are the ones who keep beating the drums to continue the tensions between the two countries.

I agree with Philly. Russians, like other Europeans, are Christian heritage people; that puts them solidly in the camp of Western enterprising, free individuals when not oppressed by the opposition camp – comprised of all the tyrants, petty, to world conquest schemers. President Trump’s instincts lead him to support those peoples who show a capacity for independence, and to lean on leaders whose self-interest he can tie to movement away from oppression and corruption.
Both Ukraine and Russia have a lot of adjustment to go through before they can be modern nations with representative governments; the old soviet mentality is still strong, oligarchs and corrupt governments having taken the place of the communists.

Russia, India, and USA are the triangulation for quieting MENA, checking ChiComs, and keeping trade moving fairly. They are Three Brothers.

I have long thought that Russia and the US should capitalize on their common genetic background.
