Russia has reportedly launched six Oreshnik missiles toward the city of Lviv in western Ukraine, on a trajectory heading toward Poland.
These are hypersonic missiles – traveling at roughly ten times the speed of sound, approximately 12,300 km/h (7,610 mph) and are capable of carrying nuclear warheads. This constitutes a warning to Europe, particularly to Poland and Germany. Had these missiles been armed with nuclear warheads, six European cities could have been wiped out.
