KYIV – Ukrainian President Zelensky has pledged to replace Ukraine’s ambassador to Washington, Oksana Markarova, following criticism from allies of Donald Trump. The move is expected as part of a sweeping wartime cabinet reshuffle planned for next week.
CDM and our Eastern European site Tsarizm.com have reported heavily on Markarova’s money laundering while in official positions in Kyiv.

Zelensky and Trump discussed the replacement in a recent phone call. Trump-aligned Republicans have accused Markarova of being too close to Democrats, particularly after she arranged a 2024 campaign-season visit with Zelensky and Democratic lawmakers, reported Bloomberg.
A senior Ukrainian official said Zelensky is looking for a “dealmaker” who can work effectively with both the White House and Congress.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is among the candidates being considered for the ambassadorship. He may be replaced by First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, a close Yermak ally with strong ties to Trump’s team.
