On Saturday, Ukrainian forces aggressively shelled a Russian village in the Bryansk region close to the Ukrainian border, with initial reports indicating that 2 people had been killed in the attack. However, the number of casualties has risen as emergency responders have continued to search the rubble for survivors. According to governor Aleksandr Bogomaz, 4 civilians have been killed, with another two wounded in what he said was “as a result of the actions by Ukrainian nationalists.”
According to a report by Zerohedge, a state of emergency was declared by authorities in Suzemka, the village that was struck only 10km from the Ukraine border.
Ukrainian forces have been increasing the number of attacks and drone strikes on Russian territory in recent weeks as Ukraine reportedly prepares for a much-anticipated spring counteroffensive.

The assault on Suzemka was not the only attack over the weekend. In the early hours of Saturday morning, the biggest of Ukraine’s assaults over the weekend occurred when several drones struck a fuel depot deep inside Crimea. The strikes resulted in a massive fire that took hours to get under control and could be seen for miles.
The fuel depot drone strike appears to be in retaliation for large-scale Russian drone and cruise missile attacks on Friday that targeted several Ukrainian cities, including several in the center of the country.
International reports also indicated that Russian officials in eastern Ukraine said, “Ukrainian shelling had killed nine people, including an eight-year-old girl in the city of Donetsk.”
