There are rumors and official denials coming from the Russian government over the evacuation of a village near the missile test site in the Arkhangelsk Oblast region of the Russian Arctic.

The Governor of the Arkhangelsk region Igor Orlov called “complete nonsense” reports about the evacuation of residents from the village of Noonoksa, near which a missile exploded at the Navy test site. “There is no evacuation,” reported Russian state-controlled news outlet Interfax.

“We received an alert from the leadership of the Nyonok test site about the planned activities of the military administration. In this regard, the residents of Nyonoxa were asked to leave the village from August 14,” the representative of the mayor’s office said. He added that the military had given such recommendations to the population before.

Earlier on August 13, IA “Belomorkanal” reported that on social networks there were rumors about the evacuation of the residents of Nyonoxa. According to these rumors, in the early hours of Wednesday morning the population of the village should be taken out by train to a safe place. The Northern News Agency, citing unnamed sources, reported that in the Arkhangelsk Regional Clinical Hospital, where the victims of the explosion lay, sealed everything related to their treatment, and the doctors took a subscription to the Nondisclosure.

U.S. President Trump declared the U.S. is monitoring the situation and concerned about the radiation release.

“The United States is learning much from the failed missile explosion in Russia. We have similar, though more advanced, technology,” Trump wrote on his official Twitter account.

“The Russian ‘Skyfall’ explosion has people worried about the air around the facility, and far beyond. Not good!” he added.

Russia belatedly admitted on Monday that the mystery explosion which released radiation into the air last Thursday, triggering warning alerts across towns near the northern port cities of Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk, involved a “small-scale nuclear reactor”, reported Zero Hedge.
