Albanian police have used tear gas and water to disband the protest before the Democratic Party headquarters in Tirana.
Since 11 a.m. this morning, hundreds of supporters of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha had joined him in an attempt to take back the PD’s headquarters from chairman Luzlim Basha.
Protestors used hammers to smash down windows and doors, and finally entered the building. Berisha also entered the headquarters wearing a gas mask.
The protest went on for at least an hour before the police intervened, after members of the PD within the building called for their help as protestors stormed in.
Talking to media, Berisha condemned the police’s actions, claiming they used violence against his supporters.
The headquarters are now free of protestors, as the police continue to push them away from the building.
