Serbia’ PM Ana Brnabic reacted on Sunday against Kosovo’s PM Albin Kurti talk of a potential future referendum on unification with Albania. Brnabic called the statement “another stone in undermining the foundations of regional stability and security.”

On Saturday, Kurti said that he would vote in favor of unification in a future referendum, provied that the referendum is peaceful and democratic.

Speaking to to Tanjug news agency Serbian prime minister accused Kurti of a clear policy of unification, and expressed concern for the lack of reaction by the international community as Kurti’s ideas “could cause major upheavals throughout the region.”

Brnabic singled out the European Parliament’s rapporteur on Kosovo Viola von Cramon calling her to speak out as her job demands her to. “I would like to hear both the EU and Viola von Cramon have something to say about this. Every silence is a sign of approval,” she said.

Calling Kosovo a Serbian autonomous province, Brnabic affirmed that there is no possibility of an Albania-Kosovo unification, but she asked the international community to make it clear that this scenario is impossible.

Earlier on Sunday, the director of the so-called Office for Kosovo and Metohija in the Serbian Government also condemned Kurti’s declaration.
