Putin Meets Tillerson After All As Power Play Plays Out

Russian President Vladimir Putin is meeting with U.S. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, in Moscow after all. The meeting had been in doubt as Russia would not say if the two men would meet. Tillerson had flown to Moscow to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin is meeting with the US Secretary of State Tillerson and Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov in the Kremlin,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian news outlet Sputnik. Peskov did not reveal what the two men were discussing, along with Lavrov.

Putin had previously awarded the Kremlin’s top award for foreigners in 2013, The Order of Friendship. President Donald Trump was criticized for selecting Tillerson as Secretary of State but now the decision seems very prescient and wise.
