According to Ukrainian officials on Thursday, multiple cities, including Kyiv and Kharkiv, came under attack from a “massive” barrage of Russian missiles. Ukrainian presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak said that more than 120 missiles had been launched across the country and had been targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.

Two explosions were heard in the capital city of Kyiv, but it was unclear whether they were caused by missile strikes or air-defense systems. Additional blasts were heard in Kharkiv, Odes, Lviv, and Zhytomyr.

The Mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyi, said on Telegram that 90 percent of the city, which is in Western Ukraine, is without power and that electrically operated public transportation is not running.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has warned that the city could experience power outages and urged residents there to charge devices and refill water reserves.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia was attacking the country from “various directions with air and sea-based cruise missiles.” It was also reported that several Kamikaze drones were used in the assault as well.

The massive attack on Ukraine comes two days after a Ukrainian drone killed 3 soldiers at a Russian air base more than 600km from the border.
