Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko, after luring thousands of Middle Eastern migrants to the Polish and Lithuanian border to pressure the EU against further sanctions against his nation, now says he wants to ‘avoid conflict’.

Vladimir Putin has probably made Lukashenko an offer he can’t refuse.

“We cannot let this so-called problem lead to heated confrontation,” he told a government meeting, according to state news agency Belta. “The main thing now is to protect our country and our people, and not to allow clashes.”

Lukashenko also declared the UAE will help resolve the crisis, without providing any details reported The Baltic Times.

In the end, Lukashenko tried to blame the United States and the endless wars in the Middle East for the crisis.

“All of this is being done under the guise of protecting the EU from the invasion of refugees that have been bombed and plundered by the Western coalition led by the United States,” Lukashenko said, appearing to be referring to the Iraq War.
