KFOR, the NATO-led international force in Kosovo, will continue its mission in the country.

In a statement for Telegrafi online, a NATO representative declared that KFOR will exercise its mandate “throughout Kosovo’s territory, including the north, to secure a safe environment and freedom of movement for all the communities living in Kosovo”.

The statement comes after KFOR resumed intensive monitoring and patrolling operations in the north of Kosovo and its border with Serbia, following a stand-off between Kosovo and Serbian forces incited by the vehicle license plates.

KFOR was established by the UN Resolution 1244, and operates in Kosovo since June 1999 with the goal to the peace and stability in the country, until its security’ forces will be fully capable of. It is currently comprised of 4 thousand troops from 28 nations.
