An angry crowd of Russian parents and neighbors attacked the Russian regional governor of Volokolamsk outside a provincial hospital with snowballs and insults after local children became seriously ill from poisonous chemicals leaking from a nearby landfill. Dozens of children suffered symptoms such as nausea, serious nosebleeds, vomiting, and fainting from the pollution. Moscow Oblast Andrei Vorobyov attempted to meet with parents but was attacked instead.
