Poland depends on the United Kingdom for an outlet for young Poles to acquire good jobs in the financial sector and elsewhere. As Brexit looms, Poland has made an enormous effort to relocate financial jobs to the Polish homeland. However, Britain remains an attractive destination for the Polish worker.
Over 30 locations in the United Kingdom over May 6-7 will emphasize Polish traditions and encourage greater cultural understanding. Folk dancing, film screenings and picnics will take place on Poland’s Constitution Day. There are one million Poles in the UK which has a population of 65 million.
“I hope this event will encourage Polish and British people to celebrate together because we should know each other better and the best way of integration is to know more about our neighbours,” Warsaw’s ambassador to London, Arkady Rzegocki said.
“Freedom of movement is very important for Poles. I hope that our governments — the EU and the UK — will remember that during the negotiations,” he said, reports AFP.
