Ukrainian aircraft manufacturer Antonov suggested that president elect Trump should consider one of their aircraft for the Air Force One program. Having apparently become aware of Mr. Trump’s comments as to the excessive price tag of the project with Boeing as the primary contractor, Antonov took to Trump’s favorite social media platform Twitter to suggest that he consider their company for their lower cost and superior quality.
Antonov is known primarily as a manufacturer of civilian and military heavy transport aircraft and in Soviet times complemented the air superiority jet manufacturers Sukhoy and MiG to complete the trifecta of aircraft manufacturers behind the iron curtain. Antonov is best known in the West as the manufacturer of the AN-225, which is the largest commercially available aircraft ever built.
