The Russian internet experienced massive outages today as any domain with the suffix .ru was shut down for hours.

“A technical problem has arisen affecting the .RU zone, associated with the global DNSSEC* infrastructure. Specialists from the Internet Technical Center and MSK-IX are working to eliminate it,” the Russian Digital Ministry said.

The outages were experienced across the nation and included the ‘Russian Amazon’, Ozon, as well as the ‘Russian Google’, Yandex.

There is no word what caused the issue, and no mention of a possible cyber attack.

However, with sabotage likely happening in the West, and in Russia, due to the Ukraine conflict, and the expanding Middle Eastern War, it is likely the West is flexing its cyber muscles.

The West should expect the same in kind.
