Paris Burns As Police Attack Anti-Globalist Protesters

For the seventh time this year, protests against the globalist agenda of the Macron regime paralyzed France. While the mainstream media presents it as a protest against the government’s plan to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64, the protesters’ demands are far-reaching and include halting the destruction of France’s energy sector, an end to the war in Ukraine, and an end to the totalitarian Covid policies adopted by the government.

French refineries and depots remain blocked, and railway service was severely disrupted. Trash continues to pile up on the streets of Paris, with residents seeing a growing presence of rats. National power production in France was reduced by 7.1 gigawatts (GW), or 14%, at nuclear, thermal, and hydropower plants on Saturday due to the strikes.

Protests began in the morning in Nice and Toulouse, but by afternoon had spread to Paris and over 200 French cities. Over 1 million protesters turned out, including over 350,000 in Paris alone. Citizens are in revolt over plummeting living standards, as the government directs the country’s resources to globalist initiatives and to funding the war in Ukraine.

While the West is quick to say that protests should be respected in other countries, in France they are not tolerated by the authorities. Police used tear gas and water cannons against the protesters. Video footage on the internet shows Macron’s police, dressed like stormtroopers, attacking and beating peaceful protesters. There were also reports of the government using the Black Blocs, Antifa-like thugs, to beat and disrupt the peaceful protests.

While Paris burned and despite the massive protests, the Macron-dominated Senate passed the BlackRock-designed pension reform bill. It is now subject to review by a joint committee of lower and upper house lawmakers, most likely on Wednesday. A final vote in both chambers could take place on Thursday, but the outcome remains in doubt in the lower chamber, the National Assembly, where Macron’s party would need support from other parties to pass it.

If the government does not have enough votes in the lower house, it is determined to use the so-called 49:3 procedure to impose the legislation. The 49:3 procedure is an anti-democratic constitutional procedure that allows the government to adopt legislation without a vote.
