For the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine 11 months ago, Ukrainian troops have arrived on U.S. soil. American military officials have announced that Ukrainian forces have arrived in the U.S. and will begin training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Ukrainian troops landed at the base Tuesday afternoon and will undergo training to learn how to operate the Patriot missile system which the Biden administration has provided to Ukraine. The troops will also undergo various battle simulations.

The training, which is expected to last several months, comes after the Pentagon announced that the U.S. would be providing several Patriot missile systems to Kyiv to aid its defense against Russian forces.
Meanwhile, residents of Oklahoma have concerns about the training of foreign troops. Republican Rep. Nathan Dahm attempted to stop the training of Ukrainian forces by issuing an SCR2, but it has had no effect on the training to date. In a tweet that accompanied a copy of the SCR2 Dahm wrote, “The last thing we need is them misfiring a missile into Oklahoma.”
Despite Dahm’s concerns, the Pentagon shows no sign of canceling or shortening the training. U.S. forces are also training Ukrainian troops at a base in Germany.
