In a move that showed contempt for the weak Biden administration, and the EU’s new reliance on Russian hydrocarbons, Russia’s smaller member of the post-Soviet ‘Union State’ today forced an international flight between two EU countries to land in the capital of Belarus — Minsk — and forcibly removed a passenger who is an outspoken critic/blogger against the Belarusian government.

It is hard to see how the Kremlin, or Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, would have had the nerve to commit such an act if President Trump was still in power.

Belarusian state television reported that Roman Protasevich, a 26-year-old opposition blogger exiled in Poland, had been detained in Minsk after flight FR4978 was diverted from EU airspace — ostensibly over a security scare, reported The Moscow Times.

Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki denounced Belarus’ diversion of the flight as “an act of state terrorism,” while French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian called for a “strong and united response” from the European Union.

The EU will discuss possible sanctions over the major diplomatic incident at a summit on Monday and Tuesday, a spokesman said.

It is difficult to think of a more heinous act by Belarus to bring down international condemnation on the Lukashenko government. It is also hard to see what the West will do about it, besides sanctions.

Germany needs Russia gas. OBiden is weak.

It is also obvious the Kremlin wanted the world to know what lengths it would go to in order to protect its authority.

This was a power move by Lukashenko and the Kremlin, telling the West who is boss in Europe.

Moscow and Minsk have to be thinking — if OBiden can steal an American election, Kay bar the door, we can do anything we want. It’s the wild, wild East once again. The ‘policeman of the world’ is no more.

“The United States strongly condemns the forced diversion of a flight between two EU member states and the subsequent removal and arrest of journalist Roman Protasevich in Minsk,” U.S. Secretary of State Blinken stated. “We demand his immediate release,” reported Russian state news agency TASS.

“This shocking act perpetrated by the [Belarusian President Alexander] Lukashenko regime endangered the lives of more than 120 passengers, including U.S. citizens,” the US state official continued.

“Initial reports suggesting the involvement of the Belarusian security services and the use of Belarusian military aircraft to escort the plane are deeply concerning and require full investigation,” Blinken said.

According to Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, the Belarusian authorities forced the plane to land in Minsk. He slammed the incident as an “act of state terrorism,” added TASS.

Nauseda’s adviser Asta Skaisgiryte said it might have been an operation of Belarus’ special services geared to detain opposition activist Roman Protasevich. “It look very much like a KGB operation because they knew for sure who was onboard the plane,” she told journalists. According to the adviser, the Ryanair flight was escorted by a Belarusian MiG-29 fighter jet and a Mi-24 helicopter.

One downside for Russia and Belarus is this move plays into the hands of globalists who want to keep the world’s eyes off of the biological warfare being conducted against the West via Beijing, and on the Russian boogeyman.

Bringing down an international flight to remove a passenger is stuff Cold Wars are made of.
