In a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the weekend, U.S. President Donald Trump provided intelligence information which prevented a terror attack on Russian soil.
“Vladimir Putin thanked Donald Trump for the information shared by the special services that helped prevent terror attacks in Russia,” the press service said. “The two leaders also discussed a range of issues of mutual interest. They agreed to continue bilateral cooperation in the sphere of countering terrorism,” reported Russian state news agency TASS. The conversation was initiated by the Russian side.
Based on the U.S. information, the Russian security forces detained two Russians suspected of preparing to carry out terrorist acts in St. Petersburg during the upcoming holiday, state news agency Tass reported, citing the Federal Security Service, reported Associated Press.
The security service said it obtained the information from its “American partners.” It said it seized material from the suspects that confirms they were preparing terrorist acts, with no further details, wrote AP.
