US President Donald Trump has given his envoy Richard Grenell a last chance to organize a summit between Kosovo and Serbia leaders following the failed 27 June meeting in Washington, D.C.
Grenell reportedly told members of the American-Albanian community on Saturday, during an online meeting on the situation, that Trump had authorized him the day before to attempt again to organize the summit. He will be assigned other duties if the resumption of dialogue fails again.
On Friday, Grenell briefed Trump on the cancelled meeting between Kosovo and Serbia, following the announcement of war crime indictments against Kosovo leaders, including President Hashim Thaci.
In the meeting with the American-Albanian community, Grenell urged Kosovo politicians to get together as soon as possible and express their intention regarding the dialogue resumption.
