Bosnian Serbs Celebrates 'Republika Srpska Day' With Military Parade

The Bosnian ‘Serb Republic’, or Republic Srpska, was celebrated with a military parade on Jan 9 in Banja Luka, its de facto capital. The region is just one of the simmering flashpoint in the Balkans, leftover from the Balkan wars following the fall of the Soviet Union and the communist state of Yugoslavia.

“A large parade of the armed forces of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka, marked the anniversary of the entity’s formation, on Wednesday. The parade is the culmination of dozens of ceremonies and events across the cities of Republika Srpska, celebrating its conception on January 9, 1992,” reported RUPTLY.

The conflicts between ethnic Serbs in the region and ethnic Albanians continue in multiple locations, multiple countries, and with inconsistent intervention by international bodies.
