Ukrainian authorities have arrested suspects believed involved in the assassination of former Russian lawmaker Denis Voronenkov who was gunned down leaving a club in kyiv earlier in the year.
In a statement on June 16, the National Police said that “investigative steps” including searches and detentions were conducted in the eastern city of Pavlohrad. The police did not say how many suspects were detained or identify them, reported Business Insider.
Voronenkov defected to Ukraine after becoming a Putin critic; he was a former member of the Russian State Duma. Crimean-born Ukrainian national Pavlo Parshov, 28, the alleged killer died in the hospital from a gunshot wound from Voronenkov’s bodyguard.
Kyiv accuses the Russian security services behind this attack and others against journalists and other Russian defectors. Moscow denies the accusations.
