Georgia Ready To Implement Electronic Elections

An electronic system of voting could be implemented in Georgia, said the country’s Minister of Justice, Thea Tsulukiani, at a briefing today.

“The fewer hands included in the counting process, the more accurate will be the results of elections. Technologically and technically we are ready to conduct electronic elections. None of cyber attacks can potentially harm this..”, – Said Tsulukiani.

The Government of Georgia in the beginning of January adopted a strategy for cybersecurity.

Representatives of the ruling party, “Georgian Dream,” in Parliament, are willing to amend the Electoral Code. The Ministry of Justice of Georgia has almost completed the transfer of its citizens to the new identity card – ID card. ID card is a high-tech identity card that is best protected against tampering. In addition, ID card gives the opportunity to do a digital signature to an electronic document.
