GOP Congressmen Pushing To Send Cluster Bombs To Ukraine

Four GOP Congressmen are pushing the hesitant Biden administration to send cluster munitions to Ukraine. The munitions, which indiscriminately drop hundreds of smaller individual bombs over a large area, have been banned in some 120 countries and are seen as far less accurate compared to other, more conventional weapons. Despite this, 4 Congressmen sent a letter to the Biden White House criticizing its “reluctance to provide Ukraine the right type and amount of long-range fires and maneuver capability to create.”

Russia Becoming More Economically Dependent on China

Chinese leader Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow Monday for meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The visit has been anticipated as Russia is traditionally the first country a re-elected Chinese leader visits, and Xi was recently re-elected to a third 5-year term as China’s General Secretary. Saudi Arabia To Reopen Consulate In Syria

More than a decade after closing its consulate in Damascus due to the onset of the U.S.-led war on Syria in 2011, Saudi Arabia will reopen its Syrian consulate following Ramadan. Preparations for the reopening will occur during an upcoming visit to Syria by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, who will meet with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Syrian President Assad Meets With Putin In Rare Visit To Moscow

On Tuesday, Syrian President Bashar Assad arrived in Moscow for a rare trip where he will meet with Syrian ally Vladimir Putin on Wednesday. A statement from the Kremlin outlining the agenda stated that the meeting will include “further development of Russsian-Syrian cooperation in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as the prospects for a comprehensive settlement of the situation in and around Syria.”
