Russian 4th and 8th grade students significantly improved their showing in the just released 2015 TIMSS international math rankings coming in at the seventh place, higher than any non-Asian nation with the exception of Northern Ireland. American students finished far behind in the 14th place, even though per student expenditure in the USA far eclipses that in the Russian Federation. This result highlights the need for significant reforms in the American education system.
