European Union leaders have agreed to ban most Russian oil deliveries, except pipeline flow arriving to Hungary, Czechia, and Slovakia. This would be about 90% of Russia’s oil exports, reported Inkerman.

In addition, Poland and Czechia will send additional Soviet-built weapons to Ukraine including T-72 tanks, BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled howitzers, and possibly Soviet-made attack helicopters. Polish public radio reported on 29 May that the country will deliver eighteen AHS Krab self-propelled howitzers.

This comes on the heels of Russian forces capturing Starlink equipment in Lyman, Donetsk, allowing Russian forces to reverse engineer the devices to determine how to disable Ukrainian communications.

On 24 May 2022 Russian forces captured the city of Svitlodars’k in Donetsk Oblast. Ukrainian forces left the city, taking up positions on the other side of the Luhan river which flows alongside the city. This is a continuing sign of Russian gains in encircling and surrounding the urban areas of Lysychansk and Severodonetsk to the north.
