Russia Maslenitsa Festival Lives Up To Occasion As Towers Burn And Pancakes (Blini) Eaten

The annual Maslenitsa folk festival in Russia lived up to its reputation as massive towers burned all over the Russian Federation marking the end of winter. The traditional eating of pancakes, or blini, also was enjoyed immensely all over the country.

The Russian Orthodox Church has declared a week of feasting to mark the event which originated as a pagan holiday.
