Very Unchristian Repression By Patriarch Against Greater Church At Large: Zelensky’s Theocratic Tyranny Targets The Ukrainian Orthodox Church

The canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been under siege by the Zelensky regime, in which forced conscriptions are the norm, elections have been suspended, and globalist interests are pitted against the good of the Ukrainian citizenry. In order to create a state-compliant version of Orthodoxy, an alternative to the UOC was created in Kiev dubbed the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). This latter incarnation under the misnomer of an “autocephalous” “orthodox” church continues to enjoy the imprimatur of Patriarch Bartholemew, Patriarch of Constantinople, and the orthodox jurisdictions under his purview. However, an “Et Tu Brute” moment seems clear in that interference from the Bartholemew camp was executed in a Super Bowl-like maneuver in order to keep D.C. leadership in the dark about the continuous persecution from Kiev against the majority denomination of the UOC within its borders.

A leaked letter from Archbishop Elpidophoros of the Greek Orthodox Diocese of America dated November 21, 2025, to Bartholemew, reveals that Elpidophoros personally interceded “try to cancel meetings between Orthodox clergy and U.S. government officials at which concerns about the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) were to be raised.”

Church politics, U.S. influence, and the Ukrainian Church crisis

Archbishop Elpidophoros allegedly used his political connections in Washington to prevent U.S. officials from meeting with clergy who intended to raise concerns about the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). The letter suggests he worked with Fr. Alexander Karloutsos to cancel meetings with the White House Faith Office, the State Department, and members of Congress.

The delegation’s concerns included:

Imprisonment of UOC clergy
Forced conscription of priests
Legal measures restricting the UOC

Public vs. private messaging:

An attempt to be all things to all people seems evident as Archbishop Elpidophoros publicly denied viewing other Orthodox jurisdictions as foreign agents, while the private letter simultaneously and repeatedly characterizes them as aligned with “Russian interests.”

Inter‑Orthodox rivalry:

The canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in communion with the Russian Orthodox Church under Patriarch Kirill, has never accepted as valid the proclamation that another “autocephalous” “orthodox church” in Ukraine was canonical or precedented. The article frames the Patriarchate of Constantinople’s support for the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) as a backdrop to the archbishop’s actions, suggesting institutional motives tied to the ongoing dispute with the Moscow Patriarchate. Ostensibly, there is coordination and tacit approval in the Greek Orthodox Church towards the objectives of the current Ukrainian leadership and the vested interests of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
