The Kremlin and President Trump threw cold water on reports POTUS would attend the Russian May 9 Victory Day Parade in Red Square, Moscow this year. The ceremony is a Russian staple in remembering over 20 million Russian souls who perished in The Great Patriotic War (WWII).
America and the Soviet Union were allied at the time against Nazi Germany.
The French news magazine Le Point, citing its own sources, reported Friday night that Trump had accepted an invitation to attend the military parade on Moscow’s Red Square.
When asked about the trip by reporters, Trump replied: “No, no I am not.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also told RBC that no agreement had been made, reported The Bell.
The Le Monde article was likely part of a Western legacy media information operation against President Trump.
Attending the ceremony would give Trump’s enemies a weapon to use against him in the press, The White House likely concluded.
Although there is plenty of time for Trump to change his mind, especially if peace is achieved before Easter in Ukraine.
