The Ukrainian government has issued a warning that Russia is mustering troops along the border in preparation for a new large-scale assault that is likely to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the invasion on February 24. Multiple reports have also previously indicated that the Kremlin was planning a Spring offensive.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov told a French media outlet on Wednesday that Putin has ordered a stunning 500,000 forces to prepare for the offensive in the coming weeks.
Reznikov told the reporter, “Officially, they announced 300,000, but when we see the troops at the borders, according to our assessments it is much more.”
Senior Defense Ministry official Yuriy Sak also told NBC on Thursday that “We should understand that the threat of a new and another offensive will remain until we defeat Russia.”
Sak added that Ukrainian officials expect the assault to happen from the south and east adding, “As their main forces are concentrated in the east, we do expect them to begin an offensive there, perhaps around Bakhmut.”
“The situation has become tougher,” in the region, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in his most recent evening address to Ukrainians.
“The enemy is trying to achieve at least something now to show that Russia has some chances on the anniversary of the invasion,” Zelensky added.

Both the U.S. and Ukraine have been closely monitoring joint exercises between Russia and Belarusian forces that have been occurring in neighboring Belarus in recent weeks. Defense Minister Danilov told UK media this week that “Russia is preparing for maximum escalation. It is gathering everything possible, doing drills and training.”
It is likely that the Kremlin is preparing to launch an offensive in an effort to keep up the positive momentum Russian forces have gathered in recent weeks as they have moved in on the city of Bakhmut. It is likely that Russian forces are also eager to attack Ukrainian forces before Western tanks arrive from the U.S. and NATO allies in the coming months.
While Ukrainian forces anxiously await the Spring offensive, Russian mercenaries with the Wagner Group are clearing the way, reporting on Wednesday that they had seized the villages of Sacco and Vanzetti, which are north of Bakhmut. The Wagner Group also claimed to have taken disputed territory on Bakhmut’s eastern side.
As the intense fighting continues, it has been reported that both sides are suffering heavy losses.

I’m pretty sure Ukraine is not winning this war. Putin has been somewhat careful to take out bio weapons labs, ammunition, electrical grid, supply routes and enemy fighting positions. The more crap NATO/US sends to Ukraine Putin’s resolve becomes stronger. When Russia does an all out assault they will grind their way through Ukraine and they will not care who is killed. This war is stupid on steroids and thousands of people have already died for nothing. Ukraine does not have the equipment or the trained personnel to go up against Russia. Some of the equipment promised by NATO is old and outdated and ammunition is no longer being made. When you have equipment from 10 countries that is completely different who is going to repair it, where will the repair parts come from, vehicles that don’t move are useless. Most of the money and weapons already supplied to Ukraine has been sent to private oligarch’s accounts and the weapons have been sold on the black market. Zelensky is no commander in chief and Putin is no fool. In 6 months without intervention from a stronger more coordinated military, Ukraine will cease to exist. Better to get to the negotiating table than to kill people for a losing cause. Whatever territory Russia takes, Russia will keep.

yep, there won’t be any peace as long a Zelensky is alive and supporting NATO missile batteries on what was his Russian border. Does anyone believe the Ukrainian people care about that? The three Baltic states to the north all managed NATO membership uneventfully by not allowing NATO missile batteries on their Russian border. What were the goofy leftists in NATO thinking?
The US’s usefulness of the sock puppet Zelenskyy is nearing an end. He will be dealt with in the same manor of Gaddafi, and then they will attempt to blame his death on Putin giving them the green light to enter this war full scale. China has floated a trial balloon…..no pun intended….as to just what the US is willing to do if China attacks Taiwan. The US failed the test miserably and Taiwan leaders were just seen putting their heads between their legs trying to kiss their rear ends goodbye.
We have wasted valuable resources and stockpiled weapons in Ukraine, leaving us in a very vulnerable position. NATO has lost the war with Russia and Russian troops weren’t even doing the bulk of the fighting…..DPR, LPR militias and Wagners were on the frontlines with Chechens and Russians doing the mop-ups.
Ukraine is about to see the might of a Russian ground war, and it’s about to get really ugly. As if the stacks of dead Ukrainians like cordwood weren’t enough.
Maybe after this is over the leftists in NATO won’t be so quick to instigate a challenge towards a nationalist nation that doesn’t like their missiles on their border.
