Trump Awarded Kosovo’s Highest Honor For Brokering Deal With Serbia

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has awarded President Donald Trump the country’s highest award for brokering a deal between Kosovo and Serbia to normalize economic ties.

On Friday, Thaci signed the award given for contribution to Kosovo’s freedom, strengthening peace and reconciliation in the Balkans.

On September 4, Kosovo and Serbia signed separate pledges in the Oval Office on several topics, many related to the economy.

Trump’s national security adviser Robert O’Brien and envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue Richard Grenell were awarded the Presidential Medal of Merits for contributions to “economic normalization” between Kosovo and Serbia.

The governments of the United States, Kosovo and Serbia were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize shortly after the two Balkan countries signed pledges in the White House.
