The Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigations has opened an investigation into whether Joe Biden pressured Ukraine to remove former prosecutor Viktor Shokin. The development was ordered by a Ukrainian court during an appeal by Shokin .
“They need to investigate this. They have no other alternative. They are required to do this by the decision of the court. If they don’t, then they violate a whole string of procedural norms,” the dismissed prosecutor general’s lawyer, Oleksandr Teleshetsky declared to the Washington Post.
Biden is suspected of interfering with the work of former Attorney General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin, The Pechersk district court of Kiev ordered to open the proceedings, reported Ukrainian news outlet vgolos.com.ua.
The information was entered in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations on 24 February under Article 343 (2) (interference with the activities of a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code. The plot is about a “US citizen,” but Biden’s name is not listed.
Daria Kaleniuk, director of Ukraine’s Anti-Corruption Action Center, downplayed the significance of the matter, saying that Ukrainian law requires state investigators to open a case on a court order even if they don’t believe there is enough evidence. “If I was a SBI investigator, I would close that case immediately,” she said, reported theWashington Post.
The Anti-Corruption Action Center is connected to the Soros organization.
